This clip is used to fasten the perimeter deck surface boards. These are side mounted so they can be installed after the deck board is placed.  Packaged in bags containing 25 clips and 25 wood fasteners, both made from 316 (Marine Grade) Stainless steel. Therefore, these are suitable in salty conditions, including use in the ocean.
